A comfortable and cosy holiday cottage in the heart of Southwold, with a nod to all things nautical!

Wheelhouse is a cosy terraced holiday cottage tucked away on a quiet street just a few steps from Southwold’s Market Place and High Street. As soon as you ‘come aboard’ you’ll see where the name has come from – this cottage is a true celebration of nautical history, brimming with maritime paraphernalia, from barometers to bells.

The cottage offers simple, comfortable accommodation for three guests plus a well-behaved dog. The sitting room, with its deep sofa and cosy chair, is an inviting place to spend an evening after a busy day exploring the Suffolk Coast, especially in the autumn/winter months thanks to the wood burning stove in the fireplace. The farmhouse style kitchen provides all the necessary utilities and equipment for a self-catering stay and has a stable door out to a small enclosed rear courtyard, which is an ideal spot for the first coffee of the day.

Upstairs are two bedrooms, a double and a single, plus the bathroom which has a shower over the bath. The single bedroom also has a pull-out bed that can be used for a fourth guest if required.

Wheelhouse is ideally suited to those wishing to enjoy Southwold’s superb coastal location and wonderful choice of eateries.

Double Bedroom – double bed, chair and chest of drawers
Single Bedroom – single bed with pull-out option for a fourth guest if required.
Bathroom – with over bath shower, basin and WC
Courtyard Garden – Enclosed paved patio with wrought iron table and chairs. Side access.
Outhouse – with washing machine.

The cottage was homely, warm and central. We were fortunate to get street parking outside the front door which was helpful. Durrants staff were helpful and friendly throughout and the office was a 2 minute walk as needed. Another great stay in Southwold.

location perfect...stones throw from the beach. Although close to the town, the little street was quiet and peaceful. liked the decor and homeliness of the cottage..and was well equipped.

Southwold is our go to holiday place and it was our first time visiting without the children. Wheelhouse Cottage was ideal for the three of us, with more facilities than we expected. Really enjoyed our week’s stay.
