Escape to Southwold for New Year's Eve

It’s been a challenging year for so many of us with our familiar routines turned upside down and we’re sure adjusting to the ‘new normal’ has been exhausting at times. You’re probably in need of some time out, or maybe even a way to restore some normality into your life – and Christmas in Southwold is the perfect time to do so.

Now that guidance has been put in place for the festivities, you may be thinking of escaping with loved ones and seeing in the long-awaited New Year. Southwold is a spectacular place to welcome a new year and a new beginning. With its beautiful blue-flag beach, quirky Pier, unique High Street and plentiful walking trails, there’s always something to do – even with social distancing measures in place.

Below we’ve showcased some of our lovely Southwold holiday cottages which have New Year availability remaining and will suit a variety of family groups. Our team have first-hand knowledge of all our properties and the surrounding area as we are all local to Southwold, therefore if you’d like any additional information on any of our cottages featured in this blog or within our whole portfolio we are on hand to assist you with your enquiry.

Waimana, Southwold
Sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms
Highlights: Private parking, 2 bathrooms

Located in a quieter area of Southwold with views across the marshland, Waimana is a beautiful cottage, all on one level (do note there are steps leading up to the entrance) with everything you could possibly desire on a self-catering holiday. From this location you’re a pleasant walk away from the beach, or in the opposite directions, the shops dotted along the High Street.

We love the country-style kitchen diner which makes the perfect area for family time altogether.

Bittern Cottage, Southwold
Sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms
Highlights: Makes a lovely romantic retreat, pet-friendly

Bittern Cottage is located along Marlborough Road which is tucked around the corner from the seafront. The property makes a lovely abode for two or a small family could stay and utilise the bunk bedded room. Bittern Cottage provides millennials a package of extras such as Netflix and Amazon TV plus explorers wanting to see more of Suffolk’s stunning coastline can bring along their bikes and store them in the garden shed. We love how versatile the property is for a whole range of holiday groups as well as its desirable location.

The Sheiling, Walberswick
Sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms
Highlights: Secluded location, games room

For larger families looking to holiday together, The Sheiling is a great choice. The accommodation is located all on one level with plenty of driveway parking so generations of families can come along on holiday too (including your four-legged friends!). You’ll find the popular Anchor Restaurant and bar a pleasant walk away plus the beach is popular with younger families. For those seeking to explore this wonderful area of outstanding natural beauty the RSPB Minsmere bird reserve is just a short drive away.

Older kids and even the grownups can get competitive in the games room where there’s table tennis and a football table for your pleasure.
