Take a trip back in time at this character-filled Grade II Listed cottage with superb sea views.

Full Description

A Grade II Listed building, Reading Room Cottage dates back to the 1870s, and sits proudly between the Sailors Reading Room and The Nelson Inn, keeping close watch over the North Sea. A stay here offers a real opportunity to capture the essence of Southwold’s history.

The kitchen/dining area is the hub of the home here. Its traditional brick floor, wood clad wall and ‘oil lamp’ lighting make the cottage’s history palpable – you can imagine the great stories told by fishermen and sailors of days gone by in this very room. There’s also a bright and comfortable sitting room with modern home comforts including Smart TV, plus the shower room and WC is on the ground floor.

Upstairs, the accommodation is simple but comfortable. There’s a large double bedroom boasting front row sea views and two twins room with full size single beds suitable for adults or children. Each room has ample storage space for all the luggage needed for a traditional British seaside holiday.

There’s private parking at Reading Room Cottage – in such a prime location in Southwold this is a real plus. To the rear of the cottage is an enclosed courtyard garden with dining table and chairs. This is an ideal spot for a quiet drink or bite to eat, but with the benches on the promenade just a few steps away, you might prefer to use the courtyard for storing beach equipment or bicycles. To the front of the property is a small terrace/patio area with locally built furniture made from reclaimed wood; a pleasant and sheltered spot to sit and watch the world go by.
