Number Six is a desirable holiday cottage standing proudly on Southwold's East Cliff with incredible views of the sea.

Full Description

Situated in one of Southwold’s prime locations, Number Six is a beautiful, individual cottage set behind a picket fence on East Cliff with uninterrupted views of the sandy beach, the Pier and Blackshore Harbour. This former Harbour Pilot’s lodge, which later became an artist’s retreat, has been in the same family for over 100 years and its unique character has been preserved by the current generation of the family with many of the original features and artefacts throughout.

Number Six is ideal for individuals, couples or a small family - for flexibility a double sofa bed has been provided in the sitting room. You can’t help but find yourself relaxing as soon as you take in the wonderful views and ever present sounds of the sea from the front door and every room of the property. This desirable location provides easy access to all Southwold’s must-see attractions. The bustling High Street with all the amenities of the boutique shops, restaurants, cafes and award-winning pubs are all within an easy walk.

What we love about this property
With breath-taking views we think Number Six makes the most romantic setting for any couple looking to escape everyday life and enjoy the Suffolk coast at its best.

Always look forward to our stay here. I think its the 4th time we have stayed. We honestly think the cottage has the best location in Southwold, in terms of shops, pubs and the spectacular view. We're already sorting out dates for 2026. Great value for money too.
As good as ever staying in this perfect spot amongst beautiful paintings, thank you.
Our 6th time at No 6 and still as wonderful despite the rain. Thank you, we will return.
lovely break, very comfy. This must be our 5th or 6th Visit. Love the new chairs in the kitchen.
22 years visiting Southwold and No6 is still our favourite, Stunning location, wonderful cottage, nowhere matches it. We will return.
Our third time in this house has been s relaxing and special as ever, very cozy.
We saw No6 last year and knew immediately we wanted to stay here, we were not disappointed, its brilliant, fabulous position, terrific facilities-and yes we will be back.
Wonderful, could not fault it-special place hope to return one day.
It’s the 3rd time we have stayed here it’s homely and cosy and love the sunrises every morning .
We always have a lovely stay here a very comfy cottage - the view is spectacular, location wonderful, so overall a teriffic holiday and dog friendly - whats not to like! Would like to extend thanks for allowing us to bring our second dog to stay. They had a teriffic holiday too!
Location is everything for this property - a good bed and good pillows is rare on our experience - this property was great - We have stayed in southwold a number of times and have always fancied the position of this property - we won’t be staying anywhere else ! - great to swim from there
We love this property and the views, this was our second stay here. Love waking up to that view, and hearing the sea. Perfect location for everything. Thank you to the team for arranging a birthday balloon to be in the cottage when we arrived.
I’ve been wanting to stay at Number 6 for as long as I can remember. It didn’t disappoint. Such a fabulous location, watching the sunrise every morning was bliss. We managed lunch out on the beautiful verandah in December! The decor is so tasteful and in keeping with the property & Southwold. We absolutely loved it and will definitely be back! Thank you
Highly comfortable and relaxing property. Amazing, premium position overlooking the beach & sea.
No. 6 East Cliff is immaculately decorated and maintained and clean. It is comforting and welcoming and also has a fabulous view. Loved the history and the family clearly look after this property with love and care and it shows. It was a joy to stay there.
The joy of the house is its location and the gift of living for a week with the art and objects of Edward Vulliamy. It’s such a privilege and the owners are very generous to extend that to us. The decor is wonderfully understated and perfect for a holiday stay. No unnecessary frills but pleasing and peaceful. Towels and linens are lovely and the bed is very comfortable. We have no complaints.
Beautiful cottage, a very pleasant stay and we have already booked again! Would not hesitate to recommend.
We have been coming to Southwold since our children were little. This is the first time we have come on our own. The cottage made the perfect cosy get away for 2 that we had been hoping for. We absolutely loved it!!
