Why You Should Head to Suffolk for your next UK Staycation – Forbes Magazine

In April 2024 Forbes Magazine wrote an article on staycationing in Suffolk. Southwold was one of the areas which was mentioned, and the article highlighted the activities available at Adnams Brewery as well as the Swan Hotel.

20 Most Beautiful Seaside Villages in Britain – The Telegraph

In an article by The Telegraph in April 2024, Walberswick was mentioned as one of the most beautiful seaside villages in Britain. It said; “A comely village green, fine Georgian houses, a handful of pubs and tearooms, and olde-worlde feel – Walberswick is an English coastal throwback.”.

One of the Best Beaches in the UK – Conde Nast Traveller

Also in April 2024, Conde Nast Traveller showcased their favourite beaches in the UK, with Walberswick’s beach ranking in 4th place out of 54! Walberswick is described as “quieter and wilder-feeling than neighbouring Southwold across the river…”.

We were also delighted to see that many more Suffolk beaches made the round up. Dunwich, a little further South than Walberswick, ranked at number 11, with Southwold following close behind in position 11 and Aldeburgh at number 19.

UK’s Best Seaside Town – Camping and Caravanning Club

Southwold was crowned as the UK’s Best Seaside Town by the Camping and Caravanning Club in May 2024, topping tourism hotspots such as St Ives, Weymouth and Scarborough.

The article states “Southwold is a great destination year-round, whether you plan to visit during the summer for an ice cream or in the winter for blustery walks and cosy pub lunches.”.

The Best Places in the UK for a Dogcation – Petsure

In June 2024 Petsure pet insurance shared their top 20 UK locations for a dogcation. They also included statistics of dog-friendly restaurants, facilities, vets and number of dog-friendly walks in each area. Southwold ranked 8th on their list. Petsure remarked “a quarter of restaurants and three-quarters of bars and pubs are dog-friendly, so your pup can join you for post-adventure meals and treats.”

One of the Best in the UK for ‘entertainment-filled’ staycation – OLBG’s Holiday Entertainment Index

OBLG’s ‘Holiday Entertainment Index’ in June 2024 ranked Southwold within the best holiday destinations based on the activities, cost, weather, and dining options available. Coming in joint 5th position, OBLG said of Southwold: “Southwold is famous for its seafood. Many restaurants feature fresh, locally sourced fish and shellfish, providing diners with an authentic taste of the sea.”

Top 50 Best UK Beaches 2024 – The Times

The seaside village of Walberswick was once again featured in the press in July 2024. This time it was The Times and Sunday Times who included this Suffolk gem in their roundup of the best beaches in the UK. They described Walberswick as having “…an unspoilt sand and shingle beach, backed by low dunes and the grassy banks of the Dunwich River.”
