Cinema and Cycling - a big weekend in Southwold

After such a long time of social restrictions we’re finally starting to see things get back to normal, and there’s a big weekend for Southwold just a few weeks away.

Southwold Open Air Cinema – Opening Night Saturday 22nd May 2021

You may recall last September outdoor cinema came to Southwold for the showing of two film classics, Notting Hill and Love Actually? Due to uncertainty caused by the pandemic it was quite a last minute affair and numbers and party sizes were restricted due to social distancing regulations, but despite that the events were a great success.

Because of this My Southwold are delighted to have scheduled a 2021 summer season of outdoor film starting on Saturday 22nd May with the classic rom-com, Bridget Jones’s Diary. If you’re more of a traditional film goer who prefers indoor cinema don’t worry, the film is showing at Southwold Arts Centre too.

The full cinema line up is shown below and tickets are available now.

  • 22nd May – Bridget Jones’s Diary
  • 29th May – Yesterday
  • 19th June – The Bourne Ultimatum
  • 19th August – Bridget Jones’s Diary
  • 20th August – Emma
  • 1st September – Mamma Mia!
  • 2nd September – Mamma Mia, Here We Go Again
  • 10th September – The Boat that Rocked
  • 11th September – The Darkest Hour

Southwold Roubaix – Sunday 23rd May 2021

The same weekend that outdoor cinema launches in Southwold, will also a see hundreds of cycling enthusiasts heading off from the town on various routes around the county as part of the Southwold Roubaix.

On Sunday 23rd May ‘The Pedal Revolution’ events company have organised a choice of 75-mile, 50-mile or 25-mile routes taking in some of Suffolk’s magnificent scenery. There’s also a 5-mile route for families.

The start and finish will be on Southwold Common where there’ll be an event village with various refreshment options, ample parking and entertainment. Even if you’re not feeling energetic enough to take part the Roubaix will certainly be a sight to behold.
