What's on this October half term

It’s not long now until October half term and we’re looking forward to welcoming lots of families to Southwold to enjoy a week of relaxation.  We thought it might be useful to let you know about some of the events taking place locally and some of the best things to do to keep the young ones entertained this October.

Spooky goings on at the Maize Maze

Southwold’s award winning Maize Maze will be open at weekends throughout October and November, but is open the whole week for half term (Tuesday to Sunday).  As well as the usual fun of the two maize mazes, playpark with bounce pillows and sandpits, ride on tractors, pedal go-carts and zip wires there will be lots of spooky going’s on to celebrate Halloween.  Of course there’s also the most fabulous café and the heavenly walks to enjoy so

Science fun to blow your mind!

At Southwold Arts Centre there’s a fun-filled week of free activities lined up uncovering ‘The Amazing World of Science’.  Children can enjoy a range of activities whilst learning about the night sky, fossils, engineering and energy.  Suitable for children aged 7-15.

Go wild at Africa Alive

Just a 15-minute drive away from Southwold is Africa Alive, a fabulous wildlife park boasting a huge selection of animals from lions and giraffes, to meerkats and spiny mice!  There’s lots to keep the whole family entertained and this top East Anglian attraction.

Get on your bikes and ride!

Of course a great way to explore Southwold and further afield is by bicycle.  Southwold Cycle Hire has a great stock of adults and children’s bikes, plus trailers and helmets.

Alfred Corrie Lifeboat Museum

The sea is a source of great fascination and at the Alfred Corrie Lifeboat Museum you and your family can discover the stories of RNLI heroes that have taken to the waves to save lives since 1893.
