Afternoon Teas

Afternoon tea is a British tradition which was originally introduced in the 1840s as a mini meal to satisfy hunger before an evening meal. Today afternoon tea is a delightful ritual enjoyed around the world and here in Britain commonly enjoyed when celebrating a special occasion.

Afternoon tea has evolved over the years, you’ll often find venues showcasing many varieties alongside its traditional offering (think ‘afternoon cheese’ and chocolate themed delicacies). On the Suffolk Coast, afternoon tea can be enjoyed in a variety of places – from coastal restaurants overlooking the sea to quaint vintage cafes serving tea from traditional crockery. Here are just a few of our favourite places for afternoon tea in Suffolk.
